Rupert's Day Rupert Moon, international Rugby star and broadcasting personality, recently spent some time learning to ride at the Dunes Riding Centre. "I fell off a horse when I was young" said Rupert "so I was anxious and wary. I feared the horse more than a large forward running at me on a Saturday afternoon! But I was made to feel at ease straight away with the support of Sharon, the trainer. Novice riders are taken on a one hour ride - walking only 90 minute rides are open to riders who can walk and trot longer rides are available for riders who can walk, trot and canter there are 30 minute rides led by an experienced escort for children under 5. It's a great feeling when you master the trot - man and horse in harmony. To anyone who has never tried horse riding I would say relax and enjoy it. There is nothing to be tense or nervous about and you will be in expert hands - including the horse!" Our horses and ponies are unsaddled between rides for their health and comfort so all rides go out at set times. Each ride is structured to the ability of the least able rider in the group so that everyone can have an enjoyable and safe experience. Riding hats and boots conforming to the latest standards are supplied. We are open every day except December 25th. |
